Comments: Jennifer joined LMP after spending the three previous years building her own horticulture and arbor care consulting firm. LMP is a Commercial Landscape Maintenance and Installation company with revenues in the $12MM range. She managed 10 properties through her team of 6 to 7 foremen and staff. However, the firm uses her sales abilities to develop new business and to assist others in problem solving plant and service delivery issues. She is well regarded in the company but she believes their financial capacity will be a limiting factor to their growth. Jennifer went back to becoming a full-time consultant in her own business.
Tree Development Consultant | Terviva Bioenergy | Central Florida
June 2015-August 2015
Terviva Bioenergy, an agriculture crop start-up company, based in CA, produces oil from the seeds of Pongamia. Intent is to commercialize Pongamia as a renewable source of diesel fuel and other potential uses by planting in Florida and Hawaii on previous lands that are no longer ideal for food production. My role was to evaluate current growing conditions for Florida growers, create best management practices for Pongamia, and collaborate efforts with local farmers to produce high yields of oil for profit.
Comments: This was a unique consulting experience for Jennifer and one that allowed her to re-enter the business world while being capable of carrying on some of her consulting work. Here she worked with cutting edge technologies and helped them make the connection with the best environments to develop their products. The company unfortunately was ahead of the curve when it came to having her on staff full-time and so she returned to consulting, which will include them.

Obtained pruning/removal permits from the Chicago. Forestry Department and additional parking permits for equipment from Chicago Department of Transportation. Exceeded manager’s sales goals every year by 110%.
Comments: As a Sales Arborist, it was her position to seek out opportunities for arbor work ranging from storm damage, line clearing, construction needs, to pest and disease eradication and annual maintenance contracts. At 110% of her goal, Jennifer was the top producer in her group for each year she was there. When Sava Tree acquired the company in January 2011, all of the sales goals were eliminated and replaced, by the new company’s plan and as a result Jennifer decided to take an offer from Bartlett. Her personal goal was also to move closer to family.

Comments: Following her undergraduate work, internships, teaching assignments, and work in the commercial sector, Jenn took a position with the UF County Extension Service where she put her educational accomplishments and energy to work creating seminars, educational programs and outreach programs. All of these activities taught her to be a good time manager and to learn the sales skills she uses today. And during this period she also earned her MS in Environmental Studies.
